SEAL BEACH : City Votes to Rezone Part of Boulevard

Share

The City Council voted this week to rezone a portion of Seal Beach Boulevard from general to limited commercial use.

City officials and residents have in recent years discussed rezoning the area, a mixture of high-density residential, office and commercial properties and vacant land between Landing Avenue and North Electric Avenue.

The purpose of the new zoning is to encourage improvements along this portion of Seal Beach Boulevard. The area includes 13 lots over 1.6 acres, but the council directed the Planning Commission to include an additional three lots in area.

Under the new zoning, office, retail and other commercial uses would be combined with residential uses in the same buildings. Businesses would be located at the street level with residences above.

Business hours in the zone will be limited to 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., unless the business operator gets a conditional use permit.
