Infiniti Executive Settles Discrimination Lawsuit

A Santa Fe Springs auto executive, who alleged that she was the victim of sexual discrimination, has settled her dispute with Infiniti, Nissan Motor Corp.’s luxury car division, and the Los Angeles Rams.

Diann Shelton, an auto sales executive at an Infiniti dealership in Santa Fe Springs, won a sales contest last October. She contended that she was denied the prize--a trip for two on a team flight to watch the Rams play the Falcons in Atlanta--because she is a woman.

Infiniti agreed to give Shelton a five-day trip for three to Hawaii, including first-class air transportation, a rental car and hotel accommodations. Shelton said she did not know when she, her daughter and a friend would take the trip. The Rams agreed to fly Shelton and a friend on the team plane to any road game she chooses through the end of next season.

An Infiniti official had blamed the Rams for barring Shelton from the flight. A Rams spokesman said Shelton was not allowed on the plane because of a misunderstanding.
