Ventura County Man Sought in Kidnap of Child

Los Angeles police are looking for a man believed to be a member of an Oxnard- or Ventura-area gang in connection with the kidnaping of 3-year-old Milan DePillars, authorities said Saturday.

The suspect, who was not identified, is believed to be “the person who actually grabbed the child,” said Los Angeles Deputy Dist. Atty. Pamela Ferrero, who is prosecuting the case.

Milan was held in a Ventura motel for three days and was in good condition when he was rescued last week, officials said. The boy’s mother said detectives told her they believe the abduction was in retribution for her testimony against a former boyfriend charged with kidnaping and raping her last year.

Two people were arrested at the motel last week, but police are looking for other suspects, Ferrero said.

The third suspect is described as a Latino man between the ages of 18 and 22, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 150 pounds, with a tattoo on the left side of his neck, Ferrero said.

Los Angeles police detectives could not be reached for comment Saturday, but Ventura and Oxnard police said they were not aware of the third suspect and had not been contacted to help look for him.
