Paris on $2,000+ a Day

Recession? What recession?: The Music Center is looking for a few Angelenos with a fondness for Ungaro and a cool $15,000 to spend. That’s the price of a one-week trip to Paris to meet the designer, view his fall/winter pret - a - porter show, attend a special salute to him at Maxim’s, go on a specially conducted shopping tour, take jaunts to Versailles and Monte Carlo. Oh, yes, there will be a little music, the Richard Strauss opera “Elektra” in Paris.

Coordinating this pricey little trek is Winnie Schweitzer, the owner of the Beverly Hills Ungaro boutique and, along with her husband, a Music Center benefactor.

“My friends are always saying, ‘When you’re on a buying trip, we’d love to come with you,’ ” she said. “Everyone wishes they could meet him. So he invited the friends of the Music Center to come to Paris.”

Seven women have already signed up for the March, 1992, trip, but there are spaces for 13 more. And if you’re worried about the price tag, you might feel better knowing that some of the cost gets kicked back to the Music Center. After all, ‘tis the season.
