The Demise of Pan Am

On Dec. 4 the flagship carrier for the United States, Pan American World Airlines, ended its operation. This once proud airline goes to the graveyard to join Braniff, Eastern, Midway and other victims of airline deregulation. The vultures now are circling Continental, TWA and America West.

Financially healthy carriers like United, American, USAir and Delta are forced to match fares of airlines like Continental, which is in its second bankruptcy.

On Dec. 5 President Bush named transportation Secretary Samuel T. Skinner as his chief of staff. Do you think the information given above was listed on his resume as accomplishments?
