Vista Girl Found After Abduction

Share

A 6-year-old Vista girl, who was apparently kidnaped from her yard Sunday afternoon, was returned unharmed shortly after sheriff’s deputies apprehended a man in connection with the incident.

The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, was playing with her 5-year-old sister in front of their home in the 1400 block of Bonair Road when she was lured into a lime-green, two-door sedan at 12:58 p.m., deputies said.

The Sheriff’s Department was called, and three patrol cars staked out the roads leading from the area, deputies said.

Deputies spotted the car shortly afterward and pulled it over in the 1000 block of Kari Lane in Bonsall, about four miles from where the girl was abducted, deputies said.

A statement from the Sheriff’s Department said a man identified as Douglas Bannat surrendered without incident and the girl was recovered, “upset but apparently unharmed.” No further details were given about Bannat, who was being held at the County Jail in Vista on suspicion of kidnaping.
