Toyota to Boost Imports: Japan’s Toyota Motor Corp. announced that it intends to drastically increase imports and the amount of goods its overseas operations buy from local companies. Under the plan, its imports will reach $3.1 billion in fiscal 1994, up from $1.8 billion in fiscal 1990. Toyota, Japan’s largest auto maker and the third largest in the world, said the next year it hopes to import and sell 7,000 Volkswagens and Audis through 60 dealerships in Japan. It will also start importing cars from its Kentuckey factory, with a goal of 20,000 a year by 1994.
