PAINTING PARADISE: It was horse racing that led to a great golf job for Laguna Beach artist Robert Schaar. He’s been selected to create the official poster for the 1992 U.S. Open next June at California’s Pebble Beach. Golf officials loved his thoroughbred paintings, exhibited nationwide. Schaar says he’s leaning toward a painting of Pebble Beach’s famed eighth hole over an inlet of Carmel Bay. . . . “My work is slightly impressionistic, but golfers won’t let you have a blade of grass out of place, so this will have to be pretty realistic,” Schaar says.
