Cable Failure Causes a Power Outage

Share

Burglar alarms sounded through the city, traffic signals went dark and 14,000 homes experienced a blackout Thursday night when an underground cable failed.

The outage occurred about 6:30 p.m., leaving residences and businesses to the northwest of Fullerton, a small section of Buena Park and the Fullerton Airport without lights for an hour and 15 minutes. Burglar alarms sounded in the area.

The Fullerton police station, flooded with calls, placed officers at all major intersections to direct traffic. Officers also responded to burglar alarms.
