EC to End Customs Checks

BRUSSELS —
Customs checks will be a thing of the past in 12 months’ time for people traveling inside the European Community. EC ministers agreed Thursday to scrap customs baggage checks starting Jan. 1, 1993, except in cases of suspected crime or drug trafficking.
