OXNARD : Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested

Share

Oxnard residents helped police catch a suspect minutes after a 1st Nationwide Bank was robbed Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Max Majeno, 35, of Oxnard was arrested after the bank at 1055 S. Oxnard Blvd. was held up at 2:35 p.m., Police Sgt. John Crombach said.

Witnesses told police that the robber handed a teller a note saying that he had a gun and wanted money, Crombach said. After receiving some cash, the robber went out a side door and was seen running north on A Street, Crombach said.

When police responded minutes later, residents in the area told officers where they had seen a man running, and Majeno was arrested at the Old Mexico Restaurant in the 800 block of A Street, Crombach said. Officers recovered a demand note and money, he said.

“This was one of the lucky ones where we had officers in the area who responded quickly, and we had citizens who were able to give us information about the suspect,” Crombach said.

Majeno was being held without bail Friday night in Ventura County Jail on suspicion of bank robbery.
