Temple City : Building Fees Increased

Share

The City Council increased Planning Department fees Tuesday, in some cases by more than $200.

Community Development Director Robert Dawson said the increases are expected to raise an additional $38,000 annually to help pay for Planning Department operations.

However, the department’s revenues will still fall $33,000 a year short of its costs, Dawson said.

Among the increased fees for applications: for conditional use permits, up from $300 to $500; for zone changes, up from $335 to $500, and for zone variances in single-family areas, up from $100 to $200.

In other business Tuesday, the council extended a building moratorium in the downtown area for 10 1/2 months.

The moratorium, imposed Nov. 19, 1990, is intended to prevent construction that would be incompatible with a design plan that the city staff is preparing.

Dawson said he hopes the plan will be completed by August, 1992.

The moratorium was to have expired Jan. 3, but with the extension, will last until mid-November, 1992.

Though the building ban prevents new construction, Dawson said, it does not prevent remodeling.
