SAN CLEMENTE : All Parking Fines to Increase by $3

Share

The City Council approved an ordinance last week that will increase all parking fines in the city by $3.

The increase is due to state legislation enacted in July that added a $2.50 surcharge to each parking fine cities collect, said San Clemente Police Lt. Paul Falk.

The council raised the fines by 50 cents more than the state mandate to cover the costs of printing new citations.

Parking tickets in San Clemente will now carry a $23 fine for infractions such as parking in a no-parking area, on narrow streets, on grades, in no-stopping zones, in alleys or adjacent to schools. The fine will also apply to parking-meter violations and loading and unloading vehicles in illegal areas.

The biggest parking fine, $53, is levied for improperly storing a vehicle on the street.
