Orlando’s game plan was simple: Double-team Hakeem Olajuwon and leave Kenny Smith open.

Smith made the Magic pay, making 12 of 15 shots and scoring 28 points Sunday night at Orlando as the Houston Rockets beat the Magic, 99-94.

It was the fourth victory in a row for the Rockets and 10th consecutive loss for the Magic.

Houston trailed, 82-81, with 5:39 remaining when Smith triggered a 7-0 run by scoring four points. Smith had 19 points in the second half, sinking eight of nine shots.

The Rockets are 13-4 in games when Olajuwon has played this year and 2-5 without their All-Star center. He finished with 17 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocked shots, although the Magic’s double-teaming held him to one point in the second half.

Olajuwon had four assists, all on passes to Smith for open jumpers in the third quarter.

Scott Skiles led Orlando with 21 points, scoring 16 in the fourth quarter.

Portland 96, Seattle 87--Clyde Drexler scored 25 points and the Trail Blazers overcame a slow start and handed the SuperSonics their eighth consecutive road loss.

Portland trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half and didn’t take the lead for good until Drexler’s layup just before the third-quarter buzzer.

The SuperSonics were without injured Shawn Kemp and Nate McMillan and were playing their second game in as many nights.

Danny Ainge came off the bench to score 13 points, six in the final quarter, including a driving layup past Ricky Pierce that put Portland ahead, 78-70, with 8:18 remaining. The basket capped a 7-1 run.
