Lagomarsino Will Move Political Base
Making what he called his “hardest political decision” in 34 years in politics, Rep. Robert J. Lagomarsino (R-Ventura) announced Monday that he will move to a Santa Barbara-based congressional district to avoid a political fight with another Republican congressman.
Lagomarsino and Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) were tossed into the same congressional district under the proposed political redistricting map being considered by the state Supreme Court. Unless the boundaries change, Lagomarsino said he will move north to preserve Republican unity.
Last week, Rep. Robert Dornan (R-Garden Grove) deferred to his conservative colleague, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Long Beach), saying he would not run against Rohrabacher in a new Huntington Beach district but would seek reelection in a proposed Santa Ana district instead.
