Armed Intruders Rob People of Cash, Jewelry

Claiming to be bearing a Christmas gift, six armed men talked their way into a Panorama City townhouse and stole a reported $27,990 in cash and jewelry, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.

The thieves held eight victims at gunpoint, bound them with lingerie and took $5,700 in cash, two phones, a leather jacket, gold bracelets and chains, rings and a watch, Lt. Harvie Eubank said.

Eubank said investigators had been unable to reach the victims for further details about the 9 p.m. Monday robbery. He said it was unclear from the initial report why they had so much cash.

According to the crime report, one thief talked his way into the townhouse in the 9500 block of Woodman Avenue by claiming that he had a present from someone’s mother, Eubank said. Once inside, he pulled out a gun and said, “Police! Nobody move,” Eubank added. Five other men followed him inside, he said.
