Melting the Ice: Rap artist Ice Cube and a malt liquor company have donated $25,000 to Los Angeles County’s Martin Luther King Jr.-Drew Medical Center, which treats numerous victims of gang violence from surrounding communities which he criticized in the song “Alive on Arrival” on the album “Death Certificate.” “Alive on Arrival” criticized treatment shooting victims receive at the hospital which in turn has been criticized in recent years for high death rates and staffing problems.
