Bicentennial of Bill of Rights
The interview with Gore Vidal made interesting reading. When one with Vidal’s qualifications comments on our politics and state of the union, past, present and future, it is surely worth noting.
Right now it seems the only people in this country who really want to face up the problems we have gotten ourselves into are the ones already directly affected by them. Most of the others seem more comfortable just trying to continue living their American dream--illusion?--and leaving that monster, reality, for those in the future to deal with.
The real problem is that something seems to have pushed the “fast-forward” button on our history. Problems hoped to be pushed aside are demanding action now.
This country, its ideals, way of life and political system are in a fight for survival but you would never know it--unless you are already a casualty from this war.
