Hardaway Goes 0 for 17 to Set NBA Record; Warriors Still Win

On a night in which he set an NBA record for futility, Tim Hardaway could find consolation in that it did not cost Golden State a victory.

Hardaway missed all 17 shots he tried Friday night at Minneapolis, but Chris Mullin was on his game and the Warriors gained a 106-102 victory in overtime over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“I’m going to frame this box score,” Hardaway said with a laugh. “I had to get an NBA record somehow. I was never 0-for at any level. What can I say?”

Previously, eight players, the most recent, Rodney McCray of Sacramento Nov. 9, 1988, had gone 0 for 15 in a game.

The Warriors’ playmaker is usually a solid shooter, at 47.4% lifetime and 46% this season. He had 13 assists.

Mullin was the reason the Warriors increased their lead in the Pacific Division to 1 1/2 games and improved their road record to 9-4. He scored 36 points and made a three-point shot with 17 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

With the score tied, 97-97, in overtime, Mullin scored on a layup and added a 15-footer to give the Warriors control.
