No Rehab: A Los Angeles County rehabilitation program would be useless in treating Adam Rich’s drug addiction and the “Eight Is Enough” actor instead must be tried on a theft charge, a judge ruled. Van Nuys Municipal Court Judge Robert L. Swasey set a Jan. 9 preliminary hearing for Rich, 23, who pleaded innocent to stealing a drug-filled syringe from a hospital on Oct. 6. The judge denied Rich’s request to enter rehab because Rich’s level of addiction was too great to be helped by the program.
