Auditor Ordered to Supply Documents: The Office of Thrift Supervision asked a U.S. District Court in Washington to order Ernst & Young to supply documents from 23 failed savings and loan associations audited by the accounting firm. The failed thrifts included some of the costliest collapses associated with the wave of S&L; losses: Lincoln Savings of Irvine, Vernon Savings of Vernon, Tex., and Silverado Banking, Savings & Loan Assn. of Denver. Ernst & Young “has failed to produce a single piece of paper required by the subpoena (issued June 11) and has offered no excuse for its failure to comply,” the OTS said.
