INTERNATIONAL TRADE : KTGY Group Lands Country Club Design Project in Hawaii

The KTGY Group Inc., a recently formed architectural firm in Irvine founded by architects who left CYP Inc. of Costa Mesa, has snagged its first major project.

KTGY has been commissioned to design a $22-million country club in Hawaii for Japan’s ISF Trading Co., part of an $80-million, 220-acre resort project that Osaka-based ISF plans to start building this month.

KTGY officials would not disclose the value of the design contract.

The Ponahawai Country Club and Resort will include a 75,000-square-foot golf clubhouse, a health spa and tennis facilities, a driving range and a man-made waterfall. The resort is expected to open in October, 1993, said Nancy L. Trudeau, project manager.

“Even though KTGY is a new company, it is made up of experienced professionals, and this project confirms that we have the confidence of our clients to design a major resort,” said Trudeau, one of eight principals of the firm.
