World IN BRIEF : YUGOSLAVIA : U.N. Peacekeeper Plan Is Endorsed
The Serb-dominated federal presidency agreed to a U.N. plan for deploying peacekeepers in Croatia, but U.N. envoy Cyrus R. Vance reminded reporters that no peacekeepers will be sent into Yugoslavia until the fighting stops. “That is not happening,” Vance said. “Indeed, the fighting seems even more severe than the last time I was here.” The 6-month-old civil war continued to rage in central and eastern Croatia, and Croatian radio reported a fierce artillery clash at the Adriatic port of Zadar. Croatian defense officials also reported federal air strikes on Daruvar.
