Bradley Gets OK to Sign Porter Ranch Accord

Share

The Los Angeles City Council voted 11 to 2 Friday to authorize Mayor Tom Bradley to sign an agreement with the developers of Porter Ranch granting their project sweeping immunities from future growth-control laws.

The authorization was the final measure needed to complete enactment of a 20-year agreement between the city and the Porter Ranch Development Co.

The major council debate and vote on the agreement took place Dec. 20.

The pact gives the huge Porter Ranch project protection against future growth-control measures while requiring its developers to help pay for extra public improvements, most notably a bridge over Aliso Canyon and a tunnel to take Mason Avenue under a Southern Pacific railroad track.

The Porter Ranch developers plan to build 6 million square feet of office and retail space and 3,395 dwelling units in the foothills north of Chatsworth.
