OXNARD : Man Held in Rape of 10-Year-Old
An Oxnard man was arrested Friday on suspicion of sexually molesting the 10-year-old daughter of his live-in girlfriend, police said.
Jesus Manuel Benapides, 26, was charged with rape, sodomy and two other counts.
The mother of the child called police after allegedly finding her daughter being molested.
Police said the 26-year-old woman told them that she locked Benapides in a room and waited outside for officers to arrive. But Benapides jumped from an upstairs window and chased the woman into the alley of the 1200 block of Colonia Road, police said. After a brief struggle, officers subdued and handcuffed the suspect.
Benapides was taken to Ventura County Jail. The girl was examined at Ventura County Medical Center and released.
