Ensenada
A Navy man who disappeared Christmas Day while swimming was declared dead after a nine-day search by Mexican authorities, Navy officials said.
Larry S. Tiglao, a petty officer 3rd class assigned to the aircraft carrier Ranger, was on leave with his brother and three friends when he disappeared at 4:30 p.m., about 50 feet from shore in water 4 feet deep near Ensenada, Navy officials said. Mexican authorities Saturday declared Tiglao, whose body was not recovered, dead.
The 22-year-old boiler technician was a native of St. Louis, Mo. and is survived by his mother and his brother.
