Pop Album Chart : Garth Brooks Regains Top Spot

Share

Garth Brooks has done it again. His “Ropin’ the Wind” has reclaimed the top spot of the Billboard magazine pop album chart, replacing Nirvana’s “Nevermind,” which slipped to No. 4 after one week at No. 1. Brooks’ album, a former chart-topper, has been a steady seller, lounging at No. 2 for all of last month, waiting for a chance to take over again. Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous” climbed back to No. 2 and could reclaim the No. 1 spot again. His single, “Black or White,” still tops the pop singles chart and is helping to spur album sales.

* Enya’s melancholy, quasi-New Age, moody ballads, rooted in old Irish folk music, would seem to appeal to a tiny, cult crowd. But her new album is in the Top 40--No. 37--out-selling those by some pop heavyweights.
