Democrats Back McDonnell Douglas Unions: The executive board of the California Democratic Party has voted to support labor unions at McDonnell that are seeking an alternative to the firm’s deal to sell 40% of its commercial aircraft business to Taiwan Aerospace for $2 billion. The unions want either public financing or funding from U.S. industry to prevent what they believe will be a loss of U.S. jobs resulting from the Taiwan deal. The effort also has the backing of the union at General Dynamics Convair in San Diego, which makes fuselages for McDonnell.
