Michelle Lloyd, the first runner-up in the 1990 Miss Orange Pageant, on Wednesday lost her bid to sue the pageant association for the $1,000 prize that was supposed to go with it.

A Municipal Court judge ruled she breached her contract with the pageant by failing to show up at scheduled appearances at city meetings, community events and parades.

Marilyn Jensen, assistant executive director of the pageant association, testified that Lloyd had been contacted numerous times about the appearances but failed to show. Lloyd claimed she did not receive all the phone messages or mailings.

Lloyd, who is enrolled at Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, said she was not disillusioned by the verdict. “As a law student, I have to have faith in the legal system,” she said.
