1,200 Residents Lose Power in Outage
An outage in Corona del Mar and the Balboa Peninsula left 1,200 residents without power for about two hours Wednesday night.
Southern California Edison Co. was flooded with calls at about 7:50 p.m. when a cable failed at a substation at Coast Highway and Bayside Drive. That substation serves the peninsula through an underwater cable.
Power was rerouted, and electricity was restored by 10:15 p.m., said Charles Wilson, area manager at Edison’s Newport branch.
Businesses along the strip were not affected by the outage, Wilson said.
