Friends of Fox and Studio’s Expansion

Share

As a resident homeowner in Century City, I was especially interested to read “Impact Report Backs Plan for Fox Expansion” (Times, Dec. 29). We who actually live in Century City very much want Fox Studios to stay--protecting the character and heritage of the neighborhood. This is why several thousand of us have joined together in Friends of Fox.

I am distressed that your article devoted so much attention to the outside activists who oppose Fox. Century City (including Fox Studios) serves Los Angeles as an important employment center, providing jobs for many younger people and minorities. The activists represent areas of expensive homes, owned by people of affluence with established jobs and secure incomes. Their opposition to Fox’s expansion and to other proposed developments in Century City is economically and class-biased. Your coverage of the Fox Studios story should never overlook the importance of job creation and job retention for all residents of Los Angeles.
