Realtors Aid Petition Drive for Anti-Gang Initiative

Share

The Los Angeles Board of Realtors this week helped kick off a drive to qualify an anti-gang, anti-graffiti initiative for the November ballot, board officials said. The signature-gathering drive for the “Citizens War on Graffiti and Gangs” will run through today.

The statewide initiative would tax sales of aerosol spray-paint cans and some felt-tip pens to raise money for local governments to clean up graffiti, fund educational programs and provide police funding for laws and programs.

“Realtors are concerned about graffiti. . . . Support for this initiative is our way of taking action legislatively to assure something is done to clean up our city, county and state,” said Gregg Pawlik, president of the Los Angeles board.
