Highland Avenue

Share

For a couple days late last fall I was in awe, literally, of the fact that Highland Avenue between the Hollywood Bowl and Sunset Boulevard was totally repaved, down to new lines on the asphalt, in only one night! But my amazement was short-lived because less than 10 days later the stretch of roadway between Hollywood and Sunset boulevards was dug up and has since remained in this condition. Now, not only are there big patches but also large metal plates across the new asphalt. Bad luck? Bad planning? Good kickback? Who knows. But it does seem strange that so often newly paved roads are dug up soon after their repaving. Well at least Highland Avenue wasn’t closed for a week while it was being repaved. But then, maybe they needed to get it repaved quickly because they knew it would have to dug up only 10 days later and didn’t want to seem too suspicious by having to dig it up the next day.
