A SPECIAL REPORT: PETS

Share

HOPEFUL TREND: Things are looking up for the strays of Orange County. At the County Animal Shelter from 1986 through 1990, adoption was up by 10% and euthanasia down 12%. . . . “We believe it’s because people are being more responsible in spaying and neutering their pets,” a spokeswoman said. “There are fewer stray animals, and as a result, people are coming here looking for animals where they might have found them on the street corner before.” . . . Footnote: In 1990, half the euthanasia at the pound was done at the request of the pets’ owners.
