A 24-year-old Oceanside man pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday in Vista Superior Court to eight felony counts of kidnaping and sexual molestation of a 6-year-old Vista girl.
The defendant, Douglas Dannat, was being held on $500,000 bail in the County Jail in Vista.
Dannat was arrested Dec. 15 by a San Diego County sheriff’s deputy who, after the abduction was reported, staked out California 76 in the Bonsall area, just north of Vista.
He saw Dannat’s vehicle drive by, with the girl still inside, within minutes after the police radio call that the girl had been abducted from her home in Vista as her younger sister watched.
