Glendale : Student Joins School Board
A non-voting student will join the five-member Glendale Board of Education next fall, part of a board-approved plan to improve ties between district officials and students.
A 10-member student advisory council from Allan Daily, Crescenta Valley, Hoover and Glendale high schools will elect the representative annually from its membership. Under the Glendale Schools 2000 plan, meant to give more decision-making to schools, the new seat confers wide advisory powers on the student, including access to all information open to board officials except matters discussed in closed sessions.
State law also bars the student from voting on district policy.
