FLICKS FILM AND VIDEO FILE : Stars Are Out : A number of celebrities have been in Simi Valley for the filming of ‘Sneakers.’

The stars have been out in Simi Valley. Their names? Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, Dan Aykroyd and River Phoenix. They have been hanging out at the Gibraltar Savings building on Madera Road since early last week working on a Universal Studios movie called “Sneakers.” The film is due out late this year. A Universal spokeswoman said filming will continue through Monday or Tuesday.

Director Robert Dornhelm is scheduled to be on hand when the Ojai Film Society shows his 1990 Austrian film “Requiem for Dominic” on Sunday at the Ojai Playhouse.

The movie, which combines real-life documentary footage with fictional work, takes place during the 1989 Romanian revolution. It is based on a true story in which Dornhelm--a Romanian native who left the country as a teen-ager--discovers that a childhood acquaintance has been accused of being a mass murderer.

The film is rated R. Show time is 4:30 p.m. Admission is $6. The playhouse is at 145 E. Ojai Ave.

Ventura College’s community services department will have a busy film week. Tonight, it will present the travel film “Biblelands” by filmmaker Jean-Luc Sterckx. Sterckx visited Bethlehem, the Jordan River, Nazareth and other biblical locales. The movie will be shown twice--at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Admission is $3.50 (general), $3 (senior citizens) for the early show and $4 (general), $3.50 (senior citizens) for the evening presentation.

Then on Wednesday, the college will present “Adventure Alone-- Jeshan Round-the-World,” the fourth and final presentation in the “Sailing Adventure Series.” The film documents the two years that author-photographer Julia Hazel spent building her cruising boat “Jeshan,” and the four years she spent sailing it alone in the Pacific Ocean. Show time is 7:30 p.m. Admission is $7.50 in advance, $9 at the door.

The Thousand Oaks Classic Cinema group will wrap up its three-week “Political Issues in Film” series with Saturday’s presentation of the movie “The Seduction of Joe Tynan” (1979). This movie is rated R.

Alan Alda wrote and stars in this film that looks at the dilemmas faced by a young politician rising to the top. It co-stars Meryl Streep and Barbara Harris. The movie will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $2. The library is at 1401 E. Janss Road. For information, call 497-6282.

Following this presentation, the Classic Cinema series will switch to its third-Saturday-of-each-month schedule. The next presentation will be “Roger and Me” on Feb. 15.

And finally, Oxnard Civic Auditorium’s “Adventure Travel Film Series” will resume Sunday with John Wilson’s “Wild Canada--Coast to Coast.” Show time is 2:30 p.m. Admission is $6.50. The auditorium is at 800 Hobson Way. For information, call 486-2424.
