Edison’s Jessie Listed as ‘Iffy’ for Tonight’s Game

Brandon Jessie’s status is “very iffy” for Edison’s Sunset League basketball game tonight against Huntington Beach, Charger Coach Jon Borchert said Thursday.

Jessie, a Times’ all-county player who is averaging 21 points and 11 rebounds, has been sidelined since severely spraining his left ankle in the first 30 seconds of the Chargers’ 62-48 victory over Santa Ana Saturday night.

Jessie, a 6-foot-5 forward, went up for a rebound and came down on another player’s foot, twisting his ankle, Borchert said.

“It’s about 60% (sure) that Brandon will play tonight,” Borchert said. “We’re still very iffy, though. We’ll tape him up and we’ll see how it goes.”

Without Jessie in the lineup Wednesday, Edison lost to Fountain Valley, 77-74, in triple overtime.

Edison (10-7, 3-2 in league) is tied for third in the league with Fountain Valley, one game behind second-place Huntington Beach (11-7, 4-1).
