WEEKEND TV : Politicians Carry the Ball, Too

Football is king, but it’s also a super weekend for political junkies.

Arkansas Gov. Bill Clinton will appear with his wife, Hillary, on CNN’s “Newsmaker Saturday” at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. today. The couple will undoubtedly answer questions about persistent allegations about the Democratic presidential candidate’s infidelity.

Clinton will also be interviewed Sunday on “This Week With David Brinkley,” 11:30 a.m. (7)(3), 10:30 a.m. (10)(42). Rep. Mickey Edwards (R-Okla.) will also be on hand to discuss “the politics of the ’92 vote.”

Former California Gov. Jerry Brown will discuss his unorthodox campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination Sunday at 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on CNN’s “Newsmaker Sunday.” Rival presidential candidate Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) also appears Sunday at 8:30 a.m. (4)(36)(39) on “Meet the Press.”

On the state level, Lt. Gov. Leo McCarthy, a candidate for U.S. Senate, will be the guest at 6:30 a.m. on KNBC Channel 4’s “News Conference.”
