CAMARILLO : Deal OKd for 2nd Park-and-Ride Lot

Share

Camarillo commuters will be able to choose from two park-and-ride lots soon.

The City Council approved an agreement with Caltrans this week authorizing the state to begin construction on the city’s second park-and-ride lot near the Ventura Freeway at Santa Rosa and Pleasant Valley roads.

The lot will have space for 100 to 140 vehicles.

Woodside Green residents had complained to the city about non-neighborhood cars on their residential roads, prompting the city to ask Caltrans to consider another lot for Camarillo, said Daniel J. Greeley, director of engineering services.

Caltrans has agreed to pay up to $200,000 to construct and maintain the lot.

The city will fund the design, provide engineering services and administer construction of the project.

The state has estimated that it will cost $150,000 to build the lot. The city’s cost of preparing the plans will be between $5,000 and $10,000.

Construction could begin as early as January, 1993, and be finished within 90 working days, said Sonny Murillo, associate civil engineer for the city.
