Los Angeles Times Names 3 New Vice Presidents

The Los Angeles Times announced the appointment of three new vice presidents, a move that Publisher David Laventhol said will “strengthen The Times’ management and organizational structure.”

R. Marilyn Lee, director of employee relations, was promoted to vice president of employee relations; William R. Isinger, director of finance, was promoted to vice president of finance, and Jeffrey S. Klein, president of The Times’ San Fernando Valley and Ventura County editions, was also named a vice president of The Times.

Lee, 43, was a deputy city attorney for Los Angeles before joining Times Mirror Co., The Times’ parent company, in 1982 as director of human resources. She moved from the corporate staff to The Times in 1990.

In her new job, Lee will be responsible for all employee relations divisions at The Times, reporting to William A. Niese, senior vice president of law and human resources.

Isinger, 44, is a certified public accountant who joined Times Mirror in 1975. He was vice president of finance at M. Grumbacher Inc., a former Times Mirror subsidiary, and has held several other financial management positions.

He will continue to be responsible for the newspaper’s finance and accounting, reporting to EuGene L. Falk, executive vice president of administration.

Klein, 39, joined Times Mirror’s legal staff in 1983, serving as staff counsel and senior staff counsel. He became assistant to the president of Times Mirror in 1988, assistant to the publisher of The Times in 1989 and president of the two daily suburban editions in 1991.

Klein will continue to oversee all business operations for the Valley and Ventura County editions, reporting to Lawrence M. Higby, senior vice president of consumer marketing.
