Woman, 22, Killed as Truck Overturns
A 22-year-old woman was killed late Saturday when the truck in which she was riding flipped over on a dirt road in Lancaster, authorities said.
Shannon Snedeker-Jones of Lancaster was riding in a truck with three other people about 11:45 p.m. near Avenue K and 20th Street East when the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Ed Raulston said.
Snedeker-Jones, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the cab of the truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Two other passengers--Mario Cannizard, 21, of Modesto and Richard Duncan Jr., 22, of Santa Clara--were treated for minor injuries at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center and released.
Driver Crystal Melin, 21, of Lancaster was not injured.
It was unclear from reports how fast the truck was traveling and what caused Melin to lose control of the vehicle.
