The Ivory Coast won the African Nations Cup for the first time, beating Ghana in a dramatic penalty shootout, 11-10, after a scoreless overtime in Dakar, Senegal.
A difficult save by goalkeeper Alain Gouanmane on a low and hard shot from Ghana’s stand-in captain, Tony Baffoe, proved the difference.
