Man Charged in Death of Wife Found in Closet
A Long Beach man whose wife’s decomposing body was found over the weekend in a closet at their Long Beach home was charged Tuesday with murder.
Long Beach police allege that Marvin James White, 32, killed Betty Sanders, 28, shortly after she called police on Jan. 13 to charge that her husband was physically abusing her. Two officers were sent to the couple’s home to take a report that night, but White was not there. The same officers who spoke to Sanders carried White’s photo with them while on patrol and spotted him Saturday. He was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse.
Meanwhile, worried relatives who had not seen or heard from Sanders in two weeks contacted police, who searched the couple’s home on Saturday and found her body.
