Guess? Is Coming: The new Guess? boutique is opening in South Coast Plaza in May. The store won’t be as racy as the clothing retailer’s well-known print advertisements. (A recent ad features super-model Claudia Schiffer standing on a car’s hood without her blouse.)

The store will feature the full Guess? jeans collection for men and women as well as the women’s collection by Georges Marciano. The boutique will try to create some of the same atmosphere of its advertising, with jeans nestled amid a background of western and Southwestern memorabilia and furniture on a honey-colored wood floor.

The Guess? brand was introduced by Georges Marciano in 1981. He also takes credit for popularizing the processing of “stone-washing” to make new jeans look older and softer.
