Jon P. Wagner; Florist
A memorial service is scheduled Sunday for Jon P. Wagner, owner of Studio City Florist and two-term president of the Studio City Chamber of Commerce. He was 37.
Wagner died Jan. 23 at his Sherman Oaks home of an undisclosed illness.
Born in Hicksville, N.Y., Wagner received a degree in mortuary science and operated his family’s mortuary in Long Island. In 1982, Wagner came to California and purchased Studio City Florist in 1983, according to Chamber of Commerce officials. While he was president of the chamber from 1989 to 1991, membership grew, the organization’s office was relocated and he worked for increased parking in the Studio City area, the preservation of palm trees along Ventura Boulevard and originated the Studio City Annual 5K/10K Run.
Wagner is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Wagner of New York; and a brother, Bill Wagner of New York.
A funeral service and burial was held Tuesday in New York. At his request, a memorial service is planned at 4 p.m. Sunday at Studio City Florist at 12145 Ventura Blvd.
