Deployment of LAPD Officers
Your pallid article on the deployment of Los Angeles Police Department officers (Jan. 19) was just another irksome story in police-bashing. Ted Rohrlich conveniently failed to mention what even the Christopher Commission discovered, that the out of the five major cities in the U.S., the LAPD has the fewest officers per citizens it serves, yet makes the most arrests per officer. Now that was accomplished through the quality leadership of Chief Daryl Gates.
