SMALL FACES: Word is that a new Paul McCartney song was recorded by Ringo Starr for possible use on the drummer’s first U.S. studio album since 1981. Neither McCartney nor George Harrison appears on the not-yet-titled album, which is due in May. It is being produced by Don Was, Jeff Lynne and Phil Ramone. . . .

After months of rumors it’s official: Guitarist C.C. DeVille has left Poison. The band is currently looking for a replacement. . . . In a recent break-in at a Milwaukee record store, the only thing taken was a pair of Doc Marten boots autographed by Soundgarden that were supposed to have been given away in a drawing. . . . Did you think that rockin’ Ninja Turtles were a bit much? Well, here come the Yo!Bots--rapping robots. An album and tour is slated for spring, with a possible kiddies television series in development.

Rock archivist and longtime confirmed bachelor Michael Ochs has changed his tune. After years of claiming that his collecting obsession made him unmarriageable, the experience of compiling the new two-CD set “Rockin’ & Rollin’ Wedding Songs” (“Chapel of Love,” “Wedding Bell Blues,” etc.) apparently has him hearing bells. The liner notes carry the announcement that Ochs “is no longer too young to be married,” and invites “interested parties” to send a letter and photo to him care of Rhino Records.
