When Changes Are in Order

Share
SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

If there’s a baby around the house, then lots of “changes” have been made recently. And for changing diapers or clothes, you can’t deny how helpful an infant changing table can be. This one measures 36 inches long by 18 wide, and the working level is 31 inches off the floor. It uses a 17- by 33-inch dressing table pad, available at most baby shops.

The step-by-step plan includes a materials list, cutting schedule, diagrams, plus a dozen photos with detailed instructions to guide one through the construction. The table is built from hardwood with tempered hardboard shelves. It’s sturdy and has a retaining rail on all four sides. An optional utility shelf at one end offers easy access to toiletries while the other shelves hold diapers, clothes, blankets and so on.

The dowels in the rails may be replaced with spindles for a more ornamental look, and the table can be painted or stained with a non-toxic product to match the room decor.
