Doesn’t Like Letters
The Travel Section is my favorite part of The Times right after reading the funnies. But I have noticed for the last couple of years that the letters to the travel editor have changed somewhat from positive to negative. You used to print letters mostly from readers telling of an enjoyable travel find they want to share or helpful warnings to us from an unpleasant experience. Now what I read mostly are picky letters correcting spelling of locales in articles and ego trips on the part of the letter sender pointing out how much more they know than the one who wrote the article or took the pictures. Aside from clipping out and saving some articles for future travel on my part, I used to clip letters that were helpful. No longer! Should not this forum be mostly a helpful exchange between travel lovers?
